Lights out.

Well, this has been fun, right folks? Facebook’s oily stance on privacy and the fact that FB feels like a shortcut around more tangible/useful creative and intellectual pursuits have tipped the scales in favor of deaccessioning myself from this space. I thought you all might be interested in some of the steps I’m taking before closing out my FB profile:

• Gist: I’m using this to bring in my FB friends’ contact information out of FB and into a more accessible environment. (Be sure to disable this connection after you go through the deactivation/deletion process, or Gist will re-activate your FB account).
• Facebook Archive: I’m using this Firefox plug-in to archive everything from my FB profile before I delete my account. 
• How-To-Delete: I’ll be using these steps to eighty-six my account once and for all.
